Event Type 2: Fun

The Field Printing Museum was started in 1993 by Morris Field. As a former newspaper owner and Linotype operator, Morris collected letterpress printing equipment that was the dominant technology for Oklahoma weekly newspapers from the late 1800s thru the 1980’s. The Museum has all the equipment to produce a weekly newspaper with letterpress technology. 

Also on display is history of many aspects of Hominy including the Katy Railroad, military heroes, World War II servicemen from Hominy and the Dragon’s Den Shorin Ryu Martial Arts Club, and an original 1928 Model A Ford automobile!

Come see all the MINIATURE MODEL TRAINS in action, read about the HISTORY OF HOMINY and many of its HEROS, explore A REAL CABOOSE and RIDE THE RAIL INSPECTION CART UP AND DOWN THE TRACK!

THE DEPOT VILLAGE, located directly behind THE DEPOT, consists of REPLICAS OF BUILDINGS IN HOMINY ON THE NATIONAL HISTORIC REGISTER.  Each replica provides Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activities for young children where they can learn about historic sites and perform fun activities that stimulate the mind!  Learn about history and do activities in the BANK, the PIONEER STORE, the MARLAND GAS STATION, the SCHOOLHOUSE and the ROUNDHOUSE.  SEE YOU THERE!
