Nature Preserves

To fully experience the prairie in its natural state, plan a visit to the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, the largest (39,000 acres) protected remnant of tallgrass prairie left on earth. Managed by the Nature Conservancy since 1989, the Preserve is home to approximately 2,500 free-ranging bison. A visit to the Preserve provides an opportunity to observe wildflowers and plant life in their natural, undisturbed state on the prairie as it once was.
