Downtown Pawhuska is the place to be from 10-4 on Saturday, May 15, 2010 for the 6th Annual National Indian Taco Championship!
Attracting contestants from several states, this growing event will feature Indian and non-Indian cooks lining the streets of Pawhuska to sell their best tacos. This delicacy of Indian fry-bread, chili, and toppings is a huge favorite among tribes across the United States. If you aspire to be a food critic, you pay just $5 to be a preliminary judge. Vendors, great music, and Indian Handgame will take place until 4 pm, when the winners are announced.
Come out and enjoy great fun for the whole family with the Jupiter Jump for the kids, unique shops, and many special places to visit in the area including the Osage Tribal Museum (celebrating their 72nd year!), the Osage County Historical Museum (Robert Perry book signing from 10-1), Immaculate Conception Church and its famous stained glass windows, the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve with over 3000 head of wild bison, dozens of historical landmark buildings in the downtown area, and so much more.
